ABOUT YIES 2021
The Youth & Industry Energy Summit is a global youth and energy-focused forum, under the umbrella of global charity Student Energy. The forum is split into three events, composed of two digital half day events held in October and the third in-person event which will take place at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP26, in Glasgow, in November 2021.

YIES21 is dedicated to representing global youth communities and engaging with core issues relating to energy and sustainability.
Events 1 & 2 are virtual half day events, held in the run up to COP26, focusing upon Renewables and Global Energy Access.Event 3 will take place in person at COP26, focusing upon Decarbonising Industry and closing with our inaugural NetZero-NetHero Workshop

As the first youth forum ever to be held at a COP summit, YIES21 represents a major opportunity to establish intergenerational collaboration between international youth communities and energy leadership.

Globally, almost 70% of under-18s - and 65% of those aged 18-35 - agree that the Earth is facing a Climate Emergency. The generations set to be impacted the most by climate change are the most united in the need to take action.
Recognising the clear youth mandate in place for decisive action action, YIES21 is providing a platform for youth voices to engage with leaders from the international community and energy industry to help shape the change and innovation needed for climate solutions.
OUR VALUES
PROGRESSIVE
We recognise the need to embrace a scientific approach to developing ambitious climate solutions.
YIES champions scientifically-evidenced commitments to climate action in line with the 2016 Paris Agreement's call to limit global temperature increases to 2ºC and reach carbon neutrality by 2050.

DIVERSE & INCLUSIVE
Climate change impacts everybody.
Our event seeks to include a diverse and inclusive range of voices from all over the world to truly be impactful.

ENGAGING & EMPOWERING
Our climate crisis cannot be solved overnight.
By empowering young energy leaders and encouraging intergenerational dialogue, we believe together we can make the world a more sustainable place.
ABOUT STUDENT ENERGY
Student Energy is a global youth-led organization empowering young people to accelerate the sustainable energy transition through a variety of initiatives, including university-based Chapters, a digital Energy System Map, and the largest student-led energy conference in the world.

They work with a network of 50,000 young people from over 120 countries to build the knowledge, skills, and networks they need to take action on energy. Student Energy’s core programs include a network of 45+ global post-secondary Chapters, a digital Energy System Map that has reached 3 million users, and the International Student Energy Summit, the largest student-led energy conference in the world. They also work with governments, companies, and organizations to facilitate meaningful youth engagement and mobilize resources to support youth-led energy solutions, in a program they call Space for Youth.

They operate on a unique youth empowerment model, which means that our initiatives are co-created with young people, for young people. They have consistently found that when young people are empowered to take action on energy and have access to decision-making spaces, they are able to raise the level of ambition in that space.
